NAIL THE ART OF HAPPY FEET

Talking about feet is my least favourite subject. Yellow toenails, cracked heels and blisters from new sandals… Stop already! I always start with a foot soaking treatment to kick-start the ‘naked foot’ season and regularly use foot scrubs and creams. And I never, EVER leave home without painted talons during Summer. Below are my bathroom grabs:

Milky Foot Exfoliation Pads

Milky Foot is a luxurious at-home pedicure treatment which removes hardened skin through its intense peeling action after just one application. The wet socks do all the work for you. Its formulation uses ExMilac (milk ferment filtrate) and mandelic acid (derived from almond milk) to break down the hardened protein in dry, scaly skin. In just 45-60 minutes, feet will start to feel the softening benefits. But be warned, it intentionally makes your feet peel, so use this treatment up to 7-10 days before your mani, not before! Milky Foot also contains additional exfoliating agents: alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) and betahelp break dow-hydroxy acid (BHA) to help break down dead skin cells, amino acids to moisturise the skin and herbal extracts such as Aloe Vera, Calendula and Camomile to soothe and calm the skin.

Simply slip your freshly washed feet inside the wet socks for 45-60 minutes, keeping your feet flat on the ground. Remove the socks and rinse feet with warm water. I’d recommend washing your hands after putting on the socks so your fingers don’t look like they contracted some weird tropical disease because of their intense peeling.

By about day 3 of 4 your feet start to peel – intensely. There’s absolutely no discomfort, you just can’t expose them to anyone. Yogi’s, your mat will look like it’s developed dandruff! The process is entirely over by about day 7-10 and your feet look and feel silky soft.

Milky Foot Exfoliation Pads are available at Chemist Warehouse, $29.95

The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Pumice Foot Scrub

This tub of wonder has immediate affects without causing any shedding of dead skin. Buff your feet with this fresh and cooling peppermint essential oil foot scrub with exfoliating volcanic rock granules. The texture is slightly jelly like with a good amount of beads for scrubbing. Peppermint oil, a natural astringent, eliminates odour-causing bacteria, so it’s perfect to use after a sweaty gym workout.

The Body Shop Peppermint Reviving Pumice Foot Scrub is available at The Body Shop, $18.00
